In Russia, Google has put a halt to advertising.

Google announced that it had taken the unusual step of halting its advertising operations in the nation, which included search, YouTube, and display advertising. The move comes only days after the firm decided to stop promoting Russian state-run media material. Because it didn't want individuals to profit from the situation, Google claimed it has already disabled advertisements relating to the dispute.

"We're stopping Google advertisements in Russia due to the exceptional circumstances." The situation is rapidly unfolding, and we will provide updates as needed," the business stated in a written statement.

  1. The Russian communications authority Roskomnadzor had asked that Google stop broadcasting online video advertising with what it deemed incorrect political material about Ukraine, according to The Wall Street Journal. It accused YouTube, a Google subsidiary, of launching ad campaigns aimed at misleading Russians about current events.
  2. Because it employs more than 100 workers in Russia, Google has maintained a careful approach with the Russian government throughout the crisis. The Russian government has threatened to punish individual workers of businesses that break the country's norms in the past.
  3. The Russian requests to Google are the latest illustration of how the world's major technology corporations' internet platforms have become battlegrounds for how information is exchanged throughout the fight.
  4. Google has banned RT, Sputnik, and other Russian state-sponsored media from YouTube in Europe, in addition to suspending advertising in Russia. It also stated that information from Russian official media will no longer be allowed on Google News.
  5. Google announced it will limit access to RT and other Russian YouTube channels in Ukraine at the request of the Ukrainian government.
